The VIEVE Modern Bronzer duo is the perfect all year round staple that you need in your makeup bag.
Brand founder Jamie’s experience as a professional makeup artist really shows in her decision to create a bronzer duo, rather than just single shades – it allows you to adapt and customise your level of bronze to the fluctuations in your skin-tone come rain or shine.
If there’s anyone I trust to create a bronzer, it’s Jamie…
The formula is gloriously silky and has a beautiful subtle golden sheen. On the skin, the bronzer makes the skin look glowy, radiant and sun-kissed. The shimmer in the formula is barely noticeable and definitely not glitter – no need to worry about looking like a disco ball.
The bronzer duo is quite pigmented but is also easily blendable – as always, it’s best to start with a light hand and build pigment up gradually, but you should be able to blend this out if you go a little too heavy handed.
The powders apply so smoothly and easily, especially over lightly powdered/set skin. I use the light 1 shade first as a base/all over shade, then use the shade light 2 very lightly just at the back of my cheeks and temples to create more warmth. For precision placement with the two shades, I like to use the Rephr 05 face brush – using each side of the brush for each side of the bronzer duo shades.
As I am VERY fair skinned and these powders are quite pigmented, so I make sure to only gently tap my brush into the powder instead of rubbing it back and forth in the pan. I also gently tap any excess onto the back of my hand to check the level of pigment before touching the brush to my face.
For reference, I have very fair skin with warm-neutral undertones and I wear the shade light. In MAC, I’m the shade NCO. This bronzer duo works for me, but only if I use a light hand. I particularly love the Light 1 shade, which is the cooler of the two shades.
LIGHT: Suitable for fairer skin tones. With subtle hints of pink and honey for a flattering and natural, healthy glow.
MEDIUM: Suitable for light to medium skin tones. With bronzed amber tones to warm the complexion (this is Jamie’s go-to shade).
TAN: Suitable for olive and deeper skin tones. With a terracotta undertone to add warmth and definition.
DEEP: Suitable for darker skin tones. With beautiful, rich brown tones to add shape and depth.
Super chic as always, the packaging is just as lovely as the formula. The compact seems to be made of a thick, durable plastic which will be able to withstand the every day rough and tumble inside a makeup bag. The compact also closes with a very satisfying and reassuring click, so I’d feel comfortable traveling with this bronzer. It definitely feels strong and sturdy. The mirror is huge and incredible quality – it’s super clear and probably going to be the one that you’ll use to do the rest of your makeup with.
When you turn over to the back of the palette, you’ll notice a small pinhole – this is so you can pop out the pan when you have used up the bronzer. I don’t think there’s been any official word from VIEVE yet, but I’m assuming they will be releasing refill pans of the Modern Bronzer soon!
