Recently, I’ve been really loving using more glowy base products. As I have really oily skin, I used to use loads of powders to try and keep my products in place. However, this makes my makeup slightly heavier looking than the healthy, summery skin look I’ve been aiming for. I’ve totally overhauled my base products and I’ve really been enjoying embracing the dewier look.
Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation (shade ’52’): This has a nice medium buildable coverage that gives a glowy, skin-like and healthy looking complexion. This formula last around 5-6 hours on my oily skin, but does need a little dusting of powder throughout the T-zone around the 2-3 hour mark. At the moment, I’m okay with this as I don’t need super long-lasting foundation to have a wander round the shops or go out for brunch. Not sure if I would reach for this one if I had to be in work all day though, so keep that in mind if you’re oily too.
Tarte Shape Tape concealer (shade ‘fair’): I think this might be the best concealer ever. It’s super high coverage without being too thick and cakey. It doesn’t settle into fine lines or crease throughout the day, pretty impressive. There’s loooads of product too, I’ve had this tube for a very long time! Definitely one of the best makeup products I’ve ever used. Bold statement.
No7 Instant Radiance highlighter: I’ve been loving the wet look glow recently and have ditched my more powdery and glittery highlighters. This cream stick from No7 is the perfect champagne shade for my skin tone which makes the glowy cheekbones a little more natural and effortless looking. It blends into the skin perfectly with a beauty blender or fingers, no painted on glittery stripes in sight.
L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion Soleil bronzer: This is one of my favourite bronzing products. I apply this with a beauty blender which allows you to apply either a very light amount of product, or to build the product for a more intense bronze glow. The cushion makes picking up the liquid really easy, no pouring product all over your hand. The product has no shimmer, but still makes the skin look glowy and healthy. It’s also a beautifully natural shade and tone – no dark orange bronzer helmets here!
Max Factor Creme Puff blush (shade ‘Nude Mauve’): I love this blush, so much so that I’ve repurchased it! The formula (like every other time in this post) is illuminating and glowy – which is impressive for a powder product. It doesn’t look powdery or heavy on the skin, again making the cheeks look plump and healthy. The shade I’m sharing with you today is ‘Nude Mauve’, which is a neutral, natural tone that complements my fair, pink toned skin. I also have a pinker shade ‘Lovely Pink’ which is beautiful too if you’d rather a bit of a brighter colour.
Let me know what your favourite base products are so I can give them a try!
